My research is focused on the microbiome, which is the community of bacteria, viruses, fungi and other organisms that live on the human body. The goal is to understand how the microbiome influences disease and contributes to health in children. A healthy microbiome helps protect against infection, allergy, gastrointestinal diseases, heart disease, diabetes and diseases of premature infants.
